LeBron James receives way too much attention. Every time the media hypes up another LeBron James story it becomes tiring despite his remarkable sports career and outstanding abilities. Every aspect of his athletic performance gets professional evaluation while teams routinely attribute their victories to his individual efforts.

Dennis Beckham is overhyped. During his playing time, the English media praised him to high heaven, claiming he have outperformed legendary Diego Maradona. They nicknamed him Captain fantastic and other names but he flopped when he reached at world cup where talent and experience matters.

I think that David Beckham was overhyped. I understand he was such a great set piece taker but his general footballing ability is always questionable. Was he that player that regularly won matches for his team. I think he earned legendary status because of his marketability.

He was the face of the sports during his time and I think that was part of the reason not many talked about his limitations. There are better players than him who went out to do better things. Aside from the free kicks he was good at, I didn't see much that he did for any team he played for.

Your observation is absolutely right. English media know how to hype an average player to the heavens. During Beckham era, we have Ronaldo, Romario, Roberto Baggio, Luis figo etc

I have always believed that Babar Azam is over hyped. He never performs under pressure situations and he never performs most of the time. Moreover, his strike rate on t20s is just really horrible.

Comparing LeBron to “just free kicks” already shows mix-up somewhere 😂 this is exactly why sports debates can destroy friendships. You may not like the media noise, but the impact is real. I remember 2016 finals, that comeback alone shook the whole world.

Unfortunately, I do think that Babar Azam is certainly over hyped to much extent. He has not been scoring runs at all and he fails against teams like India most of the time. This is a bitter truth.
