There are so many older websites that tend to close down. Some old websites such as Cash Crate and treasure troopers closed down after operating for 20 years. This does not make any sense because if a website is running for a long time, funds should not be a big issue. So it because he owner simply decided to move on?

Even if they have lasted for 20 years, one wrong management move or drop in traffic, everything could collapse. I have seen many old forum vanish. The maintenance cost, hosting, staff and other things add up. If their income doesn't balance these things, they will likely shutdown.

There are many reasons. When the owner dies it abandons it and there is no one to look after it and renew domain and hosting, the website finally shits down. Sometimes the owner loose interest or becomes financially burden they then shit it down by themselves.
