WSOP 2024 Super Main Event: A Bold $50M Gamble Nearly Pays Off

Initially, the WSOP needed 2,000 total entries to meet the guarantee, and concerns swirled about a massive overlay. Some pros went all-in—literally—by firing multiple bullets to secure a stack. The shortfall resulted in an overlay of $550,000—a far cry from the catastrophic $10 million overlay some had predicted. While still notable, it’s a result the WSOP will likely be pleased with given the sheer scale of the event.

As Day 2 progressed, play hovered on the bubble with only a few eliminations remaining to wrap up the day early. All remaining players will unite for the first time on Day 3 when action resumes at 12 PM ET on Tuesday.
