Are live players bad at online poker?

I've noticed over time that a lot of players that play live, struggle to do well in online poker.

Do you think most players that play live have a hard time winning online? Are online players better grinders?

Not necessarily. I know players that are equally good at live and online poker. I believe that being good in one can also give a measure of experience when playing the other.

Bad might be a little unfair. Though the comparison you often hear about seems to ring true. A live $1/$2 player is the equivelant of the online .10/.20 player. Unless you are a complete recreational player who does nothing to improve your game, live players will neve be able to see as many hands as online players. you can learn a lot more in 1500 gnads than you can in 250.

I notice a lot of live players have trouble making the adjustment to online. I would say about 40% of the "online poker is rigged' community is made up of live players who can't open their games. the other 60% being freerollers that seem desperate to use poker as a lottery. please don't read this as an indictment of all freeroll players. it's the loud minority that gives the larger, more reasonable, portion of that comminty a black eye.

Game selection. I think majority of players struggle because they don't pick a game/tournament that has a better structure for how they play.
I prefer slower blinds, and 8 or 9 players per table when I play tourneys online.

I started poker playing solely online before I started playing online. One of the challenges that I had transitioning online was that the pace of the game was faster online and I struggled to keep up. And then, I didn't have the luxury of observing the responses of the opponents. I struggled very much with online poker more than live poker. But I am adapting bit by bit.

It really depends on the person. I can switch back-and-forth myself.

I think many live players struggle online at first. They're used to reading physical tells and playing slower. Online is way faster with more multi-tabling and different betting patterns. But once they adjust to the speed and learn the online dynamics, most good live players do fine.

Live and online poker games have different setting and should not be approach the same way. Live poker is more relaxed and slower than online poker. In live games, you see your opponents and can study them psychological but in online poker games, you don't enjoy that privilege. Online poker demand that you have basic knowledge about usage of internet and how to operate PC. Don't you know a lot of dudes don't know how to work with PC?

I don’t think so. If you play well offline, you might also be able to play well online. You can use your same skills and knowledge

We cannot openly say live players are bad at online poker, but since online poker is more data driven, faster, and also technical, a lot of live players struggle playing online.

Being strong with live poker doesn’t automatically translate to being good player with online games. In fact a lot of live players struggle while playing online because they rely heavily on table presence or slower decision-making.
Online and live are a different format of the same game, wgich need different skill sets.
