Well, they’re not extinct, but they’re clearly declining fast. That's because digital downloads are more convenient

Physical games are fading truly but I don't also fully trust the digital form too. This is exactly why I stopped buying only online copies. One day, the server could affect your game or you could have an account issue which can make you lose everything.

They will not become extinct because a lot of people will be interested in having physical copy as a collection. recently, a movie was released in VHS tapes. That technology seemed to have gone extinct but guess what some people still are nostalgic.

They're certainly trying to make it happen. They want to switch to a digital library so they can charge a subscription model price. I never understood how games have become more expensive when they release them digitally.

If enough people demanded it, and stood up for physical copies, then companies would listen. Vinyl records have made a comeback due to the demand for high quality media, beating tapes, mp3s, mini disc players. With games starting to disappear despite them supposedly being yours, then it makes for the argument that we need to keep phsyical media. End of the day, it's all about money and where it is.

Digital versions of games has made physical copies of games so unattractive such that in few years time, physical copies of games would stop to exist. What with the ease to install patches to digital versions of games.

I don't think they are going extinct, as there are still people who still purchase them, but there is no denying the fact that there is a decrease in purchase these days.
