Some people fold themselves into losing You’ll see someone nursing a very tiny stack for two hours only to cash a very small amount. I believe that chips are like weapons. If you don't build a stack very early, it could be your loss.

Survival is important in tournaments, but I think it can be overrated if it makes you too passive. In poker, just lasting longer isn’t the goal, accumulating chips is. Sometimes avoiding risk is correct, but other times you need to take calculated spots to build a stack and actually win, not just survive.

As long as you have a chip and a chair, you still have a chance to win. However, if you're not looking for good opportunities to double up when you're down to 10 big blinds or less, you're not playing to win, you're playing to survive.

I think having a strong short-stack game is vital for tournament players and can give you a significant edge when battling through large fields. Tournament variance can be brutal, so maximizing your opportunities when short-stacked is an essential skill for long-term success.
