Is "tipping the dealer" mandatory, even after a small pot?

So when I win a small pot, maybe just enough to cover for my data, tipping sometimes feels heavy. I respect the dealers, but players too are struggling. So, I tip when I can, but it's not mandatory.

Tipping isn't a mandatory but it is sign of gratitude to tip the dealer if you win. However, I don't tip unless I have own big amount, I don;t tip with winnings are small

I had a dealer at the Rivers casino in Pittsburgh that would say "hmmm" for about 10 seconds after he would deal the cards, it was some kind of nervous tick he had.
The dealer must have seen a look on my face when he was doing it because he asked me in a smartassed tone if that's why I didn't tip him when I won pots, I told him it was getting on my nerves and yes, that's why I hadn't been tipping him, he gave me a stupid look and before he could say anything.......
I told him to look on the bright side, if this was a home game somewhere, I would have stabbed him in the throat by now
Then the whole table started talking about the Goodfellas movie.
