I think mentally strong players, especially in tournaments tend to run deeper, while in cash games that same resilience helps you handle wild swings and, ideally, crush the tables.

What do you think? What really separates mentally strong players from the rest?

I think one of the major thing that separates them from every other player is the state of their minds. These players have been able to train their minds to the fullest.

Seriously, mental strength is not just about enduring losses, it's about controlling reaction in real time. I saw one guy stay calm after brutal hand, he still played the next spot perfectly. Meanwhile, if I have one bad beat, my mood would change instantly.

I think their ability to stay consistent regardless of outcomes is something that separates mentally tough players with common player. They don’t chase losses or get overconfident after wins. They trust their judgements, manage emotions, and make calculated decisions even when they are under pressure

Mentally tough poker players aren’t just better at strategy, they’re better at handling uncertainty.
They don’t let short-term losses change their decisions. Even after bad beats, they stick to the same disciplined approach instead of chasing money back.

I think mentally tough players don’t let short-term outcomes change their decision-making. Instead, they accept variance, so a bad beat doesn’t tilt them into worse plays. I also like to believe that they they stay focused on process over results, which means they judge themselves on whether the decision was correct, ans not whether they won.
