Without knowledge of what to know first in poker, it's definitely going to be very difficult for you to get anywhere far in the game. When I started learning how to play poker, the first thing I had to learn was the pot odds, outs and equity. They are the basic math which plays a role in every decision making process I do in the game.

The first thing I learned is if your going to bluff, don't do it often. I've seen on TV some people bluff their way to a pot but if you do it a lot your bound for someone to call the bluff and doing it again wouldn't work out too well.

The first I learned is to have fun while I'm playing! There's more to poker than being serious all the time. It's important to enjoy the game, and that can help bring results with a good mindset.
