I was chatting with one friend after we got back from work and this argument refuse to end. He says beginners should attack. I said they need to calm down first. I feel playing tight gives new players time to understand the game without having to donate chips every minute. What's your take?

I think it's better to start out playing tight. Focusing on stronger starting hands makes your decisions easier and helps you avoid a lot of difficult spots. Once you gain experience, you can gradually widen your range and become more aggressive when the situation calls for it.

I'd say tight is the better approach for beginners. It teaches patience and helps you focus on playing stronger hands well instead of getting involved in too many marginal situations. You can always loosen up later as your confidence and experience grow.
